Privacy notice

Grok Bots for DTC is a newsletter and website published by Jesse Bern through Red Beard Conversions, in Austin, Texas. This notice explains what information we collect on grokbotsfordtc.com and in the newsletter, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to hello@grokbotsfordtc.com.

What we collect

When you subscribe. Your email address. If you answer the question in the welcome email about what kind of business you run, we keep that answer too. We also record how you found us, such as the link or campaign you came from.

When you read the newsletter. Our email provider records whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked. We use this to see which issues are useful and to keep the list healthy.

When you visit the site. We use Fathom Analytics to count visits. Fathom doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t give us information that identifies you. We see totals, such as how many people viewed a page and where they came from.

When you book a call. If you book a call through our booking page, the booking tool collects your name, email and anything you type in the booking form.

When you use the free prompt builder. Your answers stay in your browser. They aren’t sent to us.

Advertising

We advertise on X (formerly Twitter) and may also advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. Some pages on this site load tracking pixels from these ad platforms. A pixel lets the platform know that someone who saw or clicked one of our ads visited the site, so we can measure whether the ads work and show ads to people who have visited before. The platforms use cookies and similar technology for this, and each handles that information under its own privacy policy.

On the page you see right after subscribing, the X and Meta pixels record that a signup happened, so we can tell which ads bring in readers. They never receive your email address. We don’t load ad pixels on the page you see after booking a call.

Who else handles your information

We use a few services to run the site and newsletter. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:

  • Beehiiv sends the newsletter and stores subscriber details.
  • Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host, it keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses.
  • Fathom Analytics counts site visits without cookies.
  • X, Meta and Google measure our ads, as described above.
  • TidyCal handles call bookings.
  • Google Fonts supplies the site’s fonts. Your browser contacts Google to load them, which shares your IP address with Google.

We don’t sell your email address or other contact details. Some U.S. state privacy laws count ad pixels as “sharing” information for advertising. You can opt out of that as described below.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of any email. It takes effect right away.
  • Turn off personalized ads in your X, Facebook, Instagram and Google ad settings, and block third-party cookies in your browser settings.
  • Ask us to send you, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Email hello@grokbotsfordtc.com and we’ll reply within 30 days.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscriber details while you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email stays on a suppression list so we don’t email you again by mistake. Email us if you want it removed entirely.

Children

This site and newsletter are for people running or working in businesses. They aren’t meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll say so in the newsletter.
